Who we are
Connor Presbyterian Church was founded in 1658. The present congregation meets on the same site in the village of Connor. There are 410 families with approximately 900 people who claim connection with the congregation.
Rev. Moore, a past minister, once encouraged a young man to “do something more for God” That young man responded and gathered some of his neighbours to read God’s Word. God poured out His grace and many recognise this as the beginning of the 1859 Revival.
Today the congregation still looks to God to pour out His grace on the people in the area and add to His Church those that are being saved. We hold to God’s promise that His Word will not return unto Him empty but it will achieve the purpose for which He has sent it. Further information about our church can be found here.
Kells Presbyterian Church arose out of the revival. So many people were converted that Connor could no longer hold them for Sunday services. On August 8th 1873 Ballymena Presbytery decided to erect the new congregation of Kells. Rev Thomas Eaton was ordained as its first minister on 24th March 1874.
The congregation has always had a strong evangelical tradition and today some 850 people are connected with it. The minister and Kirk Session seek to ensure that God’s word is central in all that we do and that all are presented with the claims of the gospel.
Kellswater Reformed Presbyterian Church, also known as the Covenanter Church, has its beginnings in the 17th century. Reformed Presbyterians believe that the scriptures are the only infallible rule of faith and practice for life. This should result in recognising the Lord Jesus Christ as the only Saviour and Redeemer of men. The church’s motto is “For Christ’s Crown and Covenant” indicating that Jesus Christ is our King and as such He is supreme in church and state.
We are called upon to live lives which are consistent with a Christian profession of faith and which reveal godliness, integrity and uprightness.
St. Saviour’s Church in the Parish of Connor is Church of Ireland [Anglican]. The present Church was built in 1813, but there has been an ecclesiastical building on the same site since 450AD. The Church family is made up of 240 families spanning all age groups. We are an evangelical Church and place great emphasis on the preaching and teaching of God’s Word. We meet for worship each Sunday at 12 noon and also on the 3rd Sunday at 6.00pm. The praise is lead by the worship group and varies between traditional hymns and more contemporary songs. Our fellowship and learning continues during the week with our Wednesday night Bible Study as well as with other age related Christian Groups. Visitors are always welcome.
